Company History and Mission   Information About Sunfield Engineering

Keeping an engineer on staff is an expense that many companies cannot cost justify. In 1982, Richard Kobetz, P.E., formed Sunfield Engineering, Inc. with the goal of making professional engineering affordable and accessible on an "as needed" basis.

"Our job is to look out for the owner's best interests and provide them with the information needed to make sound business decisions and control capital projects. Whether the project involves day-to-day questions on operations, evaluating a new process or designing foundations and structures, we identify all the options, discuss the pros and cons involved, and establish comparative cost estimates for each approach."

Since approximately 49% of the life cycle cost of a facility is spent on operation and maintenance costs, Sunfield's work focuses on the manufacturing process and product flow. Emphasis is placed on designing and refining manufacturing systems to resolve product and/or cost issues and to ensure a system that contributes to the bottom line. As a structural engineer, Kobetz has the unique ability to design the processing system while simultaneously integrating the production and material handling equipment within new or existing steel or slipform concrete structures.

Sunfield Engineering is not affiliated with any equipment manufacturer or construction company and does not derive any income from commissions or percentage of project cost. All services, based on an established scope of work, are performed on a fixed fee basis to ensure that the owner is provided with extensive, impartial information.
